Responding to a Freedom of Information Act Request filed by Jackson radio station 96.7FLR WUFN, the Michigan Lottery Commission is providing sales figures for each drawing of the Michigan Winfall and Michigan sales of the multi-state MegaMillions. During February, a total of 18, 000, 847 were sold for those games. Of those, 17, 607, 114 were losing tickets. There were no jackpot winners for either game during the month of February.

The station has contacted state lawmakers, suggesting legislation that would require the Michigan Lottery Commission to report sales figures for each drawing of every game with a minimum jackpot of $100,000. News Director Robert Parson believes there are many people in the state that would have an interest in knowing the daily sales figures. Requiring the release of those numbers would also eliminate the need to file daily Freedom Of Information Act requests.

The school aid fund receives profits from the Michigan Lottery. That came to 644 million dollars from 1.97 billion dollars in sales during the fiscal year that ended September 30th. 1.1 billion was used for payouts to winners.
145.3 million went to retailer commissions, and 87.8 million for other game expenses.
